A Huge Range of Guitar Pickups and Parts for Electric, Acoustic and Bass Guitars.
Axiomatic Music is an electric guitar, bass guitar and acoustic guitar pickup and parts specialist. We have good stocks and we offer great prices.
Great tone is what every guitarist needs - the guitar pickups you use are the key. The original P90 and PAF humbucking guitar pickups, fitted to Gibson's Les Paul model, and the Telecaster and Stratocaster single coil guitar pickups are the guitar pickups that defined the sound of the modern electric guitar. As Gibson and Fender have struggled to replicate the sounds of their original guitar pickups a wide range of manufacturers like Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, EMG, Rio Grande, Joe Barden and Bare Knuckle have sprung up to provide guitar pickups that can replicate these classics as well as provide new sounds. We sell them all and can help you get the tone you want. We also supply a range of guitar parts to help you make, repair and customise your guitar or bass.
Seymour Duncan sells a broad range of aftermarket guitar pickups and if you don't see what you want we can ask if the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop can fulfil your dreams. DiMarzio has been very successful at selling its guitar pickups to guitar manufacturers like Ibanez. You can buy them to fit your guitar. EMGs guitar pickups are also original equipment on guitars like the Zakk Wylde Gibson Les Paul. Bare Knuckle guitar pickups are superbly crafted, British made guitar pickups which are starting to become estblished over the pond with American players. Rio Grande is a boutique manufacturer of guitar pickups based in Texas. As well as getting awesome reviews for their humbuckers and Strat pickups they make more unusual guitar pickups like replacements for the Fender Wide-range humbuckers used in certain models of Tele.
All electric guitarists of a certain age know where they were when they first heard Michael Jackson's ' Beat It' and that solo. "Who the hell is that?" was the common refrain. Well it was young Edward Van Halen, as most people know. Edward claims that he did it as a favour and was never paid for it. What may be less well-known is that the main riff was played by Steve Lukather on an original '59 Les Paul, and the rest of the backing was recorded by what is essentially the band Toto.

{DESCRIPTION}Warm, moderate-output humbucker. Great for jazz, blues, classic rock and slide. The Alnico 2 magnet and moderate windings yield a warm, sweet tone with more natural string vibration for great sustain. Classic rock players who get their distortion from the amp rather than the pickup love the APH-1. It allows them to back off the crunch and get beautiful clean tones with softer attack. Compared to the '59, the Alnico II Pro has a rounder sound with a spongier bass response. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable and no logo.
Often the APH-1 is used in both neck and bridge positions, eg Slash. Or, in the neck with a higher output pickup like an SH-11 Custom Custom or SHPG-1b Pearly Gates for heavier rock or hotter blues sounds from the bridge position.
For brighter toned instruments. Works especially well with maple and ebony fingerboards. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars. Options of Nickel or gold-plated cover, Trembucker version.
{PLAYERS}Players: Slash / Velvet Revolver & Guns ‘N Roses (neck & bridge), Michael Wilton / Queensryche (bridge), Jeff Tamelier / Tower of Power (neck), Tim Mahoney / 311 (neck), Troy Van Leeuwen / Queens of the Stone Age (neck)
This is the parts kit used by Fender in their modern US made Precision Basses:
2x CTS 250k audio taper pots 1 x Switchcraft 1/4 inch jack socket c/w washer and nut. 1 x 0.1mf disc capacitor. 2ft of vintage style cloth hook-up cable
These high quality components are modern versions of those used in Fender's original instruments and would be great for upgrading a Far Eastern replica guitar or for building from scratch. Available in Nickel. find out more
Seymour Duncan SH-2 Jazz Humbucker
£63.35
{DESCRIPTION}SH-2 -- This pickup is for players who need an accurate, clear tone for fast jazz runs. The brighter sound has slightly less output and is a good match with most pickups. A popular combination is The Jazz in the neck with either a JB (SH-4) or Duncan Custom (SH-5) in the bridge. Available in black, zebra (cream & black), reverse zebra and white as well as the following colors at no extra charge -- red, red & black, pink, green, light blue, dark blue & yellow.
{PLAYERS}Players: Jerry Horton / Papa Roach (neck), Dave Mustaine / Megadeth (neck), Doug Pettibone / Lucinda Williams (neck)
{DESCRIPTION}A completely balanced coil configuration produces great harmonics and a high output with just the right blend of sustain and distortion. You get the best of both worlds: from sweet warm tones to raw rock 'n' roll. Combine this with the (SH-2) Jazz Neck and you've got Seymour's personal favorite combination. Available in black, zebra (cream & black), reverse zebra and white as well as the following colors at no extra charge -- red, red & black, pink, green, light blue, dark blue & yellow.
{RECOMMENDED FOR}Recommended for Bridge position. With traditional or Trembucker spacing. Also for 7-string guitars, available in black only.
{PLAYERS}Players: Paul Stanley / KISS, Gary Rossington / Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ty Tabor / King’s X, Steve Marker / Garbage, Nick Hexum & Tim Mahoney / 311, John Connolly / Sevendust, Dave Mustaine / Megadeth
{DESCRIPTION}The original Evolution bridge model did what Steve Vai wanted it to do - kick butt and produce serious scream. Then he wanted something a little more complex - the same basic tone with increased headroom and dynamics, so that the sound kills on 10 and cleans up when the volume is rolled down. With a little less power than the original Evolution, EVO2 balances perfectly with the Evolution neck model and performs equally well with high gain and vintage amps.
{AVAILABILITY}The standard colour is black. If you like the look of double cream coils - DiMarzio is the only manufacturer - however, it is a special order from the factory - as are Zebra coils - and delivery is 4-6 weeks. Gibson Les Pauls, SGs, 335s, Flying Vs, etc should be fitted with standard spacing pickups while ALL others should be fitted with F-spaced pickups.
The Tube was designed to provide a flat, true acoustic response for natural sound. It uses a Stack® hum-canceling design and it's extremely feedback resistant. The impedance is lower than other passive acoustic pickups, so it can go straight into a variety of mixers, amps and PA systems. There's also a volume knob right on the pickup for quick and easy control of volume during performances. And installation is a snap! For use with bronze wound strings. Fits acoustic guitars with sound holes between 3.85" and 4.10" (98- 104mm).
{DESCRIPTION}The new DiMarzio Dropsonic is a high-output bridge humbucker designed for the extended low end and heavy chords that dropped tuning delivers, plus serious treble response for single-note solos. The DropSonic isn't just a one-sound pickup, either. The patented design utilizes 4-conductor wiring to access 2 different single-coil sounds plus parallel humbucking mode, for 3 additional sounds that are distinctive and versatile. As used by John Petrucci.

{DESCRIPTION} Nylon was DiMarzio's first choice for ClipLock® Quick Release Guitar Straps. They chose automotive seatbelt material for its comfort, strength and durability. Unlike inexpensive polypropylene, nylon has a smooth, satin feel, allowing the guitar to slide freely during performance. (Ask Yngwie Malmsteen.) The fabric conforms to your body and adds a new level of comfort, yet it is strong enough to hold over 150 pounds! Nylon ClipLock® Quick Release Guitar Straps come in assorted cool and classy colors and adjust in length from 43 to 63 inches (109 -160 cm), measured between the strap buttons.
DiMarzio® ClipLock® Quick Release Guitar Straps were the first to feature the heavy-duty plastic clip that allows you to easily change from guitar to guitar with a little fingertip pressure. It is the most secure and unique fastening method available to safeguard your guitar. ClipLock® Quick Release Guitar Straps have been used for years by Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci and many other professional musicians. They are the industry standard for strength, security and quality.ClipLock® Quick Release Guitar Straps attach securely to your guitar with two sturdy bushings and extra-long screws sized to fit the strap bushing screw holes on most electric guitars and basses. Seymour Duncan 'Slash' Signature Set (APH-2S)
£159.95
During the recording of Guns 'n' Roses 'Appetite for Destruction' album, Slash used a custom-made Les Paul (made by the late Chris Derrig) equipped with two Zebra Alnico Pro II humbuckers (APH-1s) - straight into a Marshall stack. The neck pickup was a standard Zebra pickup but the bridge was a reverse Zebra. Though he has dozens of amazing guitars, since 1986 Slash has used pretty much one very special Les Paul ® for all recording. The Alnico II Pro Slash was designed to give Slash's other Les Paul guitars-what he calls his "live guitars"-the exact tone of this legendary instrument.
{Application} Warm, moderate output humbucker. Recommended for jazz, blues, and classic rock.
{Description} Like the standard APH-1 Alnico II Pro, this pickup uses an Alnico 2 magnet. However, the Slash model is wound with just enough boosted output to push a stock Les Paul toward the sweet sustain and rude crunch that characterizes Slash's sound as heard on hundreds of tracks. In addition, it comes with some of the same appointments found on the Seymour Duncan pickups in Slash's '86 recording axe, including single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and wooden spacer. For the true fan, or the player who wants to capture Slash's recorded tone, this pickup is a critical part of the tone chain. This is same pickup found in the newest Gibson® Slash model Les Paul.
{Complete Setup} The Slash aficionado will use a pair of these pickups to capture that unmistakable tone. This pickup matches well with the SFX-11 Twin Tube Blue all-tube overdrive-distortion stompbox for singing leads and authoritative chording.
{Guitars} While designed for use in a Les Paul, this pickup works well in any well-balanced humbucker-equipped guitar. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.
{Available Mods} Available in black, zebra, or reverse zebra. The infamous Slash recording guitar has a reverse zebra pickup in the bridge position and a zebra pickup in the neck position. This pickup is available individuallyor in the zebra/reverse zebra set.
You can recreate that Slash sound with this set of two pickups.
Slash's guitar used Zebra pickups but many people prefer the look of black pickups and Gibson use black APH-1s in their Slash signature model Les Paul..
The SHR-1 Hot Rails is one of the highest output pickups made by Seymour Duncan. It's a humbucker that fits into a normal single coil slot, so you get the noise canceling effect without cutting a large hole in your guitar. The two thin blades with powerful coil windings give you the incredible sustain and a fat, full sound that's needed for playing heavier rock music. This pickup responds to the subtlest finger movements. Available in black or white. Four conductor cable. Calibrated Set
The MM5-HZ is a direct replacement for the original Music Man 5 String Bass Pickup. This pickup is passive (without internal pre-amp) and features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. The MMHZ housing is directly compatible with EMGs entire Active MM pickup line. All feature the CS design (Ceramic and Steel). The CS design has the punch and fullness of the older passive designs along with added brightness for a better-defined tone. EMGs Active CS Series Pickups feature the same construction and have proven popular among bass players. The five pin connector allows multiple wiring combinations so you can get both dual-coil and single-coil tone with simple switching. Each Pickup is fully shielded for a minimum of noise.
Package Includes: Mounting screws and springs.

DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF Bridge (DP223)
£72.95
{Description}What makes a great vintage humbucker? A soft magnetic field, sweet tone, a perfect balance between warmth and clarity, the ability to go from clean to distorted by pick attack alone. There are many pickups that capture some of these qualities, but we wanted to build them all into one pickup, and this is it. Totally redesigned for 2008, we bring you the new DiMarzio PAF® available in standard or F-spacing. Partly based on the pickups in Larry DiMarzio's own 1959 Les Paul and partly on our own patented technology, the PAF® will perform equally well in the neck or bridge position, just as the best humbuckers from the '50s did.
Want to go totally retro? This PAF® in standard spacing only comes with authentic vintage bobbins in glossy black and single conductor wiring as standard. Options include vintage "Patent Applied For" long-legged nickel-silver base and your choice of polished and plated or vintage worn cover.
{Recommended For} All positions
{Tech Talk} There is no reference standard for the sound of a humbucker from the 1950s. All of them had variations in output and tone, and these differences could be quite large. Recently, we have focused our research on making pickups with warm highs and bright lows. This combination is only found in our favorite vintage humbuckers, and its really good for a pickup intended for both the neck and bridge positions. It allows the bass strings in the neck position to avoid muddiness, and the treble strings in the bridge position to be warm and not brittle.
